A Bit About Me–Rachel Vederman
Hey guys! I’m really not sure the best way to tell ya’ll (yes, I’m from Texas) about me….so bear with me. I’m Rachel. I’m 16. Although I’m only a sophomore, I have a terrible case of senioritis. I can’t wait to get out and experience the “real world” or whatever it is that comes after high school. Umm…I’m the youngest of 3 kids, all born and raised in Houston, Tx. At first people always think I’m reserved, or even shy, but trust me, I’m not…at all! I guess I just like to observe people before I let myself open up to them. I love to see how people move, how they react, how they respond to other people, how they show emotion…I just love people! I think they’re fascinating! I also love music. I’ve been singing since I was a little girl. Now I sing in the choir and Youth Worship Band at my church, as well as the choir at school. Right now I’m learning how to play the guitar and I’m already in love with it. What else….oh, I love the outdoors! I really like rockclimbing, rappelling, hiking, swimming, tubing and cave spelunking (ask me about it, it’s awesome!) I really just love being outside, enjoying God’s beautiful creation, being part of it! I also love journaling. I have a horrible memory and I don’t want to forget any of the things I’ve experienced or the people I’ve met, so I write it all down. Sometimes I write for hours. Sometimes it takes me hours to remember everything I wanted to write about. I’m convinced I’m the most unorganized person alive. I can’t keep my room or my car tidy for any period of time. This bothers some people, but it’s just fine by me! I’m not exactly sure when, but at some point along my journey, I realized that the only things you really need in life are great friends who will love you, humble you, and support you in your walk with God. If you’ve got that, then you can handle anything life throws at you. I don’t know what my future holds but I do know, that I don’t want to get wrapped up in the twisted lifestyles the mainstream has adopted today. Instead I want to appreciate the world, however broken, for all the majesty and beauty that God put into creating it. I know I’ve told ya’ll a lot about myself, but the only thing that you really need to know is that I am truly, madly, and deeply in love with my Savior, Jesus Christ.
I’m so excited to go to Haiti and I can’t wait to meet all of you!
This is my brother, my sister and me. (I’m the one on the right.) :]
