Hey Rebecca – thanks for the questions.
1) The amount of money you bring is up to you. Be wise. You won’t have a lot time for shopping. Bring enough at least to buy soda and snacks if you should want extra.
2) You will want a swimsuit. It must be one piece or you can wear shorts and t-shirt.
3) Yes, bring a couple nice shirts for church services.
4) You can exchange your money at the airport.
5) Scrubs are fine as well as sweat pants. It is REALLY hot. Make sure your sweat pants DON’T have any thing printed on the butt!
On the packing list and in an email it said bring a skirt (almost ankle length). Is a dress necessary?
1. Personal money is your responsibility and preference. The most money you may use will be on travel days or in GA for any extra supplies you realize you need/forgot. In Haiti, a lot places accept the US dollar, but we’ll talk more about that later. I wouldn’t convert money, unless it is in Haiti… because, I would rather them make profit off of your exchange. The amount is up to you, but most things will be covered by the funds that you raised.
2. Swimming…there may be some at training camp…but in haiti, I highly doubt we will swimming, but when we fly back to ATL, the hotel will have a pool.
3. T-shirts are fine for everyday use. At church or school, dresses should be worn by girls and boys should wear slacks and collared shirt.
4. Scrubs and sweats are good ideas! Blue jeans not!
