So my name's Elizabeth Schechter and I'm sixteen years old. I live with my parents in Fort Lauderdale, FL, but I go to boarding in Massachusetts during the school year at a school called Northfield Mount Hermon. A lot of people think you have to be really rebellious and you're "sent away" to boarding school, but it's actually really common in New England. My family has gone to boarding school and when I was in 8th grade my parents had me look into it and I was really surprised how much I liked in and that I ended up going. Anyway, it's a lot of fun living with my friends and I've found really great Christians there. We have a spiritual youth group there called, Breakaway. Every friday night about 40 kids gather at this couple's house and we have dinner and then sing songs and listen to a guest speaker. I'm one of the leaders of it and help plan it every week. The other Breakaway leaders are like my family there and we're each other's spiritual rocks in this crazy world! I'm not a big sports person, but I play tennis in the spring and I do community service work throughout the year. At home, I enjoy seeing all my old friends, playing with my dog, spending time with my family, and recently, driving.
Last summer, I had an incredible experience with AIM going to Puerto Rico on a mission trip. The team became a family and we were able to bless people and show them God's love, while also being blessed in return. This is a picture of us at training camp.
I'm so excited to meet all of you and God will have great things planned for us in Haiti!
